Spreading Christmas Cheer to Kids in Roatán

Roatán, Honduras – On Christmas Eve 2024, Going Global, successfully delivered hope and joy to underprivileged children and families living in the housing slums of Roatán, Honduras. Through a coordinated relief effort, volunteers distributed much-needed essentials, including non-perishable food, hygiene items, and holiday gifts, ensuring that the spirit of giving reached even the most vulnerable.

What began as a small initiative to transport aid to flood-impacted communities in Morazán evolved into a powerful display of love and generosity. Partnering with West End Baptist Church, Going Global volunteers, led by Richard Garrett, hand-delivered supplies directly to children and families in need. Suitcases filled with food, toothbrushes, soap, and wrapped Christmas gifts were unloaded onto pickup trucks and distributed in the heart of Roatán’s most impoverished areas.

“Seeing the smiles on the children’s faces and the relief in the eyes of parents was a humbling reminder of why we do this,” said Richard. “These families are facing incredible hardships, yet their gratitude and joy showed the true meaning of Christmas.”

The outreach was made possible by the generosity of donors and volunteers who contributed supplies and funds leading up to the trip. The team’s journey began aboard the Carnival Jubilee, which docked at Mahogany Bay in Roatán. Volunteers personally transported the aid-filled luggage from the ship, ensuring the supplies reached those who needed them most.
